Aria here, hope everyone’s having a good holiday season! I haven’t been keeping up with FGO, but if it’s roulette harvesting time, then don’t make yourself sick from all those golden apples ;_;.
We’ve received several “oh no the project’s dead” messages lately, so I hoped to alleviate some concerns with a holiday post. If you’re unaware, we have a progress tracker running at https://kotcrab.com/progress/ccc/ – though admittedly, it’s been rather unmoving lately. I’d like to apologize for the confusion there.
The past several months since we finished the main translation effort has been combing through the massive script and working through troublesome lines, essentially a translation check pass. There were several lines that were marked as “this could use more eyes,” “pun attempt needs workshopping,” or “I think Nasu is trying to shoehorn in a pixiv meme uhhh” kind of thing. Sometimes it takes a room full of us to realize the obscure joke going on.
The main issue with this and the tracker is that these are the worst of the worst lines that need attention and fixing, which barely makes a dent on the tracker. Hopefully once we clear these lines, the tracker will become more accurate. We should be through most of them at this point!
We’ve also been fixing up issues with translation consistency for terms since we’ve had a few different translators on this project, so that’s another one that doesn’t reflect on the tracker.
During one of our “what the hell is this line” voice calls, I sent a screenshot to ItsumoKnight to show how a line looks in-game, who proceeded to die in laughter. I didn’t think much about it until I looked back at the screenshot:

I forgot that the default Kotcrab setup for the editor uses Issei at the school gates since it’s one of the first lines, but I rewired it to Kotomine since it makes the lines x10 more amazing. For reference, this is what Itsumo would see on his side:

Really Hakuno’s blue glasses just improve everything.
There was also a section of prototype dialogue that was untouched that I translated since I finished my current tasks. Not that it’s accessible, but here’s what the line would look like (once again if Kotomine said it for some reason):

And now back to actual dialogue:

Kotomine aside, we have been slower than we could be lately, for that we apologize. Things have been busy the end of this year, but we’d like to kick the momentum up for next year, so stay tuned, and thank you for your patience.
And if Itsumo slacks off, I’ll be sure to drag him over for a CCC editing marathon session followed by mahjong thrashing🔪

Thank you for all of your hard work. Have an important text in a few hours so I was pretty nervous… This cheered me up a bit!
Thank you for all of your hard work!
The game will have its 10th year anniversary on March 28, 2023. Maybe you guys are aiming to release the translation for that date? LMAO.
Not bad. But still have to wait, because there will still be patches
Finally! An update!! Looking forward to the release!!!
nice
Thanks for your continued efforts. Hope you guys enjoy your holidays
Thanks for you work and your perseverance !
F/E R hyped me, then I check your posts… Unlimited Hype Fever XD
Looks like we have to wait for another 2 years or so given the circumstances lol. Anyway, hoping for the best.
I think I can wait another year or two.
But would it be funny if, let’s say, a year from now, Type-Moon will announce that Fate CCC would also get a remake and it will be localized? 😂
I think at that point I’ll just wait for the CCC remake and play that instead! lol
So Type-Moon can bastardize their own work and turn it into something not at all like it was, and possibly leave out half the game while adding a metric shit-tonne of crap no one wanted even on their worst robotrips?
I’ll take this fan translation over that any day.
I agree with the other guy that replied too. Modern Nasuverse canon is trash. Tsukihime Remake and Fate/GO are the biggest examples. Hell, the Extra Remake likely will be a game adaption of Extella Zero, which is a short story rewrite of Extra to fit with Extella rectons. And yes, the short summary of what it was was full of nonsense that was just too much unneeded shit. Hell, who wants to play a Fate/Extra that is canon to Extella? That shit was terrible. As for playing CCC, I’ve already played the Gilgamesh Route many years ago and I’d say to just play that or watch it on Youtube if you don’t want to wait, since I think someone uploaded a translation of it there recently. The translation here will likely take many more years.
“the Extra Remake likely will be a game adaption of Extella Zero” really weird to say “likely” when you just pulled that out of your ass. The thing not acknowledged and already dropped as a summary? Sure, makes sense.
Same with the other guy talking about “bastardize”. It’s not bastardization when a remake, announced to be doing something different, does something different. It is supposed to “turn it into something not at all like it was”. If you want the original again, just play the original, you big baby. “Possibly leave out half the game” Fate was released in a similar manner and weird to determine size of the game on number of routes and not content.
You shouldn’t wait on a remake though. The actual trend, as seen with TsukiRe and what of Extra Record is that they at the very least present themselves very different. And a CCC would likely follow Extra Record’s gameplay. Not to mention general feel and presentation, or the possibility of information being conveyed differently.
If they were to release a remaster like Mahoyo, sure, but that’d just be weird. What company would release a touched up re-release followed by a shoddy port of a handheld game. Unrelated photo of ATLUS.
The thing not acknowledged? You mean the thing that acts as the basis behind Extella, which is what Nasu is currently running with? It would only make sense. Hopefully I’m wrong, but it’s not likely.
It is a bastardization if it carries barely any of the essence of the original. Why not just make another series unrelated to it at that point? A remake is to expand and make the original better in most cases. The Tsukihime Remake is a prime example of a bastardization of the original for no real reason beyond “appealing to a younger audience” as Nasu put it (which mainly just means modern Fate degenerates). Hell, there was no reason for it to actually exist. All the OG needed was a remaster with higher production value for the most part.
If Fate/Extra: Record is an expanded improved upon version of Extra with superior gameplay, that is great. If it’s just some shitty version of Extella Zero, which was Extella’s version of Extra that was nonsensical, it would be shitty. Especially since we know the Extella games would happen after it, which were hilariously shitty and cringe.
“A remake is to expand and make the original better…… in most cases”… HAHAHAHA!!! This one made me laugh so hard!!! LMAO!!!
I mean yeah. A remake trying to make itself almost completely different from the original is should be done sparingly, as the question comes into play if a series needs such a thing instead of just a remaster.
Gonna have to disgree with you on the Tsukihime Remake being a bad thing. Ciel’s route in particular was greatly improved over the original in terms of the writing and characterization whereas Arc’s route was kept pretty much the same aside from the higher production values. There is quite simply no downside to the Remake compared to the original at all, at least when it comes to Arc and Ciel routes obviously.
Horrible pacing akin to Fate/Stay Night’s VN, while the original had great pacing for the most part. Terrible redesigns. Saberface Arcueid with more generic hair. Ciel looks like Mash and sounds like her. Roa looks like Fate/Prototype Gilgamesh (same face). The story is more like a hyped battle Shounen with some drama thrown in instead of a dark urban fantasy setting that was mainly a drama. The fights are overly long bloated garbage that kill the pacing further. Dead Apostles are now cringe since we have a magical girl loli as one and some big breast doctor acting cringe. Several plotholes have been created too due to this. An example I saw someone else bring up is how Shiki’s killing instincts haven’t activated, despite a Dead Apostle literally being inside his home. And Akiha would never let some weird slutty chick with her bra hanging out into her mansion, let alone as Shiki’s doctor. And then we have kaiju fucking Arcueid. It’s pretentious kiddy bullshit, which is to be expected when you consider the fact that Nasu said he is aiming for a younger audience. The list goes on and on, but it is objectively inferior to the original Tsukihime in all but production value. That’s a fact. It feels like a Fate spinoff more than anything else. “Fate/Moon Princess” as others have roasted it as.
The pacing remained the same, since the route is largely unchanged. And if you’re talking about Ciel’s route most of it is directly copy-pasted from Arc’s route in the original, so that can’t be an improvement. The designs are more of an issue with Takeuchi’s same-face syndrome. But given the characters have far greater variety in outfits I’m willing to overlook this bit.
If anything the fights are a a great improvement given characters like Arcueid and Apostle Ancestors are supposed to be quite powerful. You can’t have supremely powerful characters fighting and have it be so small scale.
Most of the stuff involving Arach is a mystery at this point so I’m willing to wait for Red Garden before calling out any sort of plothole.
Luminary Arcueid makes perfect sense for an existence that’s practically the Earth’s Ultimate One.
And lol no, objectively inferior is hilarious. This is just your opinion dude, and a rather unpopular one to say the least.
The route is not largely unchanged. I suggest you actually read both VNs before commenting on them. Hell, Vlov alone is a much more generic introduction to vampires than Nrvnqsr, who subverted expectations on what a vampire could be and was much more threatening. Meanwhile this dude just has fire and ice shit. Wow, such creative. Much original.
Ciel’s route in the original had its own stuff, but it’s true that the beginning half shouldn’t have been as similar as it was to Arcueid’s route. Not denying that in the slightest. What the Remake did for Ciel’s route though was much worse and just bonkers.
Fights between powerful characters do not have to be explosive and insane, especially when you consider the fact that by feats, the Tsukihime Remake is laughably weak compared to the original to the point it made me do a double take. Arcueid having to put up a barrier to defend against 7.62 rounds. Shiki barely being able to react to subsonic attacks from Vlov. Vlov being unable to react to a subsonic attack from Shiki. Luminous Arcueid being hyped as being able to destroy vehicles. Gravity pulling Shiki fast enough to the ground to dodge her attacks. Gaia now having finite energy comparable to Saber’s Dragon Core (stated in Fate/GO), which is terrible. And the fact that Arcueid can’t even go that high before exploding if she takes too much energy in, while Gaia’s energy in the original was explicitly stated to have no limits. Red Arcueid’s physical attacks were shown to just damage a city block a bit, with that pushing Powered Ciel to the limit. The list goes on and on. My point is that the original is hilariously more powerful, yet was able to keep its fights discreet. Old Nasuverse made a point to keep the supernatural stuff under wraps from the public eye. But now apparently giant kaiju fights are a thing now and things no one could not notice.
TLDR: It’s very clear that the original Tsukihime was a drama set in a dark urban small town environment with battles more so being a means to an end to resolve conflicts, and they were usually over quickly. The Tsukihime Remake is a hype battle shounen with super long and pretentious explosive fights in a big bustling city with some drama on the side. If you do not understand the difference here, you’ve completely failed to comprehend what the original Tsukihime was entirely. This is a fact, not an opinion.
Hahhhh….. Dude… roamingtruth…. If you really think that the original is objectively better than the remake, then just play the original! Play it again! And then after that, play it again! No one is forcing you to accept the remake. The original is still there! Just act like the remake doesn’t exist or something if all you’re going to do is whine about “how much Type-Moon bastardizes the remake”! Because, guess what? That’s not going to change! If Type-Moon wanted to change how they present its story via these remakes, then it’s their prerogative! It’s their IP! They are free to do whatever the hell they want with their VNs! They are not making this just for you. If you don’t like aspects of the remake, then either don’t play it, boycott them if you want, or just suck it up! And like I said, The ORIGINAL is still there! It’s not like it’s going to disappear because of the remake. Seriously… You remind me of those dumbasses who is whining on the internet about the new little mermaid. If you don’t like the new one, then play the one that you think is “superior”. If you want to boycott Type-Moon, then by all means. It’s not like that’s going to change anything… Much like all of this whining. lol
Ahahaha oh my god!!! lololol you are so hilarious that I can’t even take what you said seriously! lol Go ahead! Feel free to think whatever you want! If that’ll help you sleep at night! To be really honest! I don’t really care about all this “remake blah blah bastardise yada yada” talk. I just made a comment because I found your argument with the other guy seriously hilarious that I can’t help myself! Lmao
Just take it easy, bro! You don’t have to make an essay just so that you can defend the integrity of the original! It’s just a game! Why do you take it so seriously as if the remake made you lose your job or something?? Also, it’s not good for your health to respond to every single comment here! I’m just surprised how you keep replying to the comments others are making. Did you enabled “notify me via email”? Or do you visit this page regularly just to comment? Is it part of your lifestyle or something? Well you do you I suppose… As for me, I think I’ll wait till extra’s anniversary before I check iwakura again. Just to see if there are any updates… So don’t look forward to my reply incase you choose to respond to this! 🙂 God bless to you and your family! XD
You’re so angry and are now trying to hide it while projecting your anger issues onto me. Apparently calmly written “essays” prove I’m mad, while you are oblivious to the fact you are writing “essays” yourself, except they are mindless whining anger-fueled rants directed at one person. The lack of self-awareness is supreme. You’re a funny guy. Good entertainment too. lmao Stay mad.
morons squabbling.
cringe.
Oh boy I can’t believe you have such an abysmal reading comprehension. I was going to address you but quite frankly someone with such an awful comprehension of the game is not someone I would find worth engaging in any sort of meaningful debate.
I think it would be a waste of time and I feel like I’d just end up with dead brain cells as a result as opposed to being a bit more enlightened with a new perspective or knowledge.
So eh, believe what you want friend. I’m out.
You do realize someone else brought up the bastardization shit and I just elaborated, right? And then was confronted by someone on it further? I seldom talk about the Remake actually and do not pay attention to modern Nasuverse canon much at all. Again, someone else brought it up first here.
Also, I can shit talk it as much as I want in the same way modern Type-Moon can vomit out low-quality shit for basement dweller Fate/GO waifu kids as much as they want. The only one who is bitching is you, as you literally sound like a pissed off 12 year old who feels he needs to get aggressively defensive because someone pointed out how the shit he likes trash. You give off the impression that you are red in the face while angrily typing on the keyboard while breathing hard. It’s embarrassing dude. Go touch grass and stop projecting your own issues onto me. lmao
Ahahaha oh my god!!! lololol you are so hilarious that I can’t even take what you said seriously! lol Go ahead! Feel free to think whatever you want! If that’ll help you sleep at night! That just means you have no counterargument, but still were angry enough to feel the need to whine and rant at me because of how hurt you are that I pointed out the flaws in some shitty fiction you care so much about. Pretty cringe. If you have no counterargument, best to save yourself from looking stupid and stay silent, yeah?
Fight on~~! 💪
Thank you for the progress update! It’s wonderful how dedicated the group is to this project and I’m glad to patiently wait because the work you guys are doing is amazing!! Happy holidays everyone ❤
Good job! Folowing th project 3 years already. Keep it up champs!
Great work guys!
I’m so excited I check the tracker almost daily!
love reading these blog posts to hear about the development process~~
It’s already 2023 and the progress tracker still hasn’t received any updates since May last year. ;((
man, just fkn get on with it. This has been taking years. At this rate, the remake will overpass you turle fcks.
Are you stupid? They are doing this for the simple love of the game. They don’t have to do anything. Because of ungrateful fucks like you projects loose motivation and end up abandoning games. Have a little respect and patience.
Nah, I feel the guy even though I wouldn’t word it like this. This project has been going on for years upon years upon years and they aren’t even close to finished whatsoever, despite over a year ago saying it would be done soon. I check on it now more so just to see if the progress bar will ever even move an inch more our of sheer curiosity, as opposed to actually waiting for the game. I truly wouldn’t be surprised if it took around 5 more years at absolute bare minimum for them to get this out, assuming it doesn’t get cancelled.
Almost like extracting text, translating, making sure the game supports the font, as well as make new assets, and then testing it multiple times would take years or something. Be as impatient as you want, but don’t announce you have no idea what you’re talking about with meaningless talk like “it’s been years!” That’s how these kind of projects fucking go? The only way you think this is somehow too long is if you just don’t know anything about fan translations. Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity was first announced in like 2014 and didn’t drop until 2020. And it takes no genius to compare CCC’s 2016 screenshots to the PSP2i’s 2015 where there’s a bit of a gap in what has to be done.
Just saw your comment now. Doing this may take years to complete as you say, not a full decade with no end even remotely in sight. Big difference, buddy. Again, not that I really care. I just keep tabs via curiosity. I’ve already played CCC.
“Have a little respect and patience”
Are you for real? I mean I get that fan translators have lives outside of translating but there’s a limit when that defense stops working. It’s been 7 and a half years since this group announced taking on the project. At some point in that time they needed to bear down and get it done and released. How much longer do they have to take before you start calling it like it is and stop defending what is now an indefensible position?
Once they publicly declared to the fanbase that they were taking on the project they had an obligation to release it within a somewhat reasonable timeframe. The fact we’re sitting here 7 and a half years later without a release is beyond insane and it’s even more insane that people are defending it.
“They don’t have to do anything”
Yes they do actually if they want to be taken seriously. They don’t get to both receive all the praise that comes with simply taking on a project while giving periodic blog/vid updates but also avoid all the blowback from never actually releasing anything of substance for 7 and a half years. I can only take so much more of seeing people do the “take your time” bit to be nice before being completely real about it.
this is ccc, the “remake” is for extra only, moron.
A remake will 100% be here before they are done. This group is a scam, don’t think they ever released a full game translation yet in the near-decade of their existence. Kinda surprised people still following them and listening to their bullshit. Unless someone snipes this project as well, it is never getting released.
Except they released Sakura Wars 1’s fan translation, you fucking idiot. You should do some research before spouting that BS
Cristian you’re the one who should do some research my guy… SW1 was not their own project, they only joined in when it was more than halfway done. If it was 100% by their own hand, you would still be waiting for it dumbass.
SW1 being a collaborative effort doesn’t change a thing. The fact that they still worked on something means “this group is a scam” is a stupid thing to say. Which is saying a lot, because it was already pretty fucking stupid. The blog has plenty of credits for other projects they helped on as well as many posts about the tools used or how progress was made on the Perfect Patch for the original. “I have no clue how progress is made” doesn’t mean it’s a scam, numbnuts.
Yeah don’t worry guys. I’m sure they only need another 5 years to edit. Let’s keep believing in them despite developing a reputation for sitting on supposedly finished translations and then getting sniped. After all they need *at least* a month each to translate every obscure Nasu reference that 99.9% of readers won’t get anyway. You know what they say, the good is the enemy of the perfect.

Thanks for the hard work, guys, but I really need to así: will it be playable on the ppsspp emulador? (I’m new here)
Thanks for your hard work, guys, but I really need to ask: Will it be playable on the ppsspp emulator or how will it be? (I’m new here)
Sorry, I posted the comment twice without realizing xd
I’m gonna turn 30 this year, still looking forward to this
Hoping it ends up like the Persona 2 translation. If someone else doesn’t step up and release their version, shit will never see the light of the day.
I mean really comparing apples to oranges situations. The EP patch that released was just retouching the script from the PSX one.
Do your best 😊
looking forward to it (:’))
thanks for the hard work 🙂
Hope for a repeat of P2 EP situation. Both this and Growlanser are begging to get sniped.
Does that tracker ever move?
Not since August as far as I remember. Best to not give your hopes up.
When thiss will be complete and release? 😩 So long 🥺
Honestly grateful for all the work you guys put into making this. It’s crazy to think this’ll probably be out before the remake of Fate/extra will and i’m excited to one day be able to use it.
can we get an update on this?
i hope it that it will finish the game this year i can’t wait to play it i hope in 2024 it finish im looking forward to it
Thank you for your hard work! I’ll wait as long as it takes to play the game.
