So much for Golden Reverie: Cross…

MangaGamer beat us to the punch. Ah well.

ctu2e0yw8aak-wnI have absolutely no clue when they’re releasing it, but it is a thing! Sincerely glad to see it, just a little disappointed we were never approached. Ah well. Those who hated our localization should be happy, because I guarantee they’re doing their own thing.

If they’re not, well… I don’t have any attorney, sucks to be me I guess!

But really, looking forward to it. No idea when we would’ve gotten to it, anyway.

We’ll always have the vanilla version, right?

Wizardry Empire II Plus Fan Translation Released!

I’ve been slacking on my duties as a fan translation reporter.

Gonna get back on that horse.

Wizardry Empire II‘s fan translation was just released. Our very own EsperKnight helped program this, so consider your support as indirectly supporting iwakura.p.

You’re also playing an awesome RPG, so bonus.

This was developed by Starfish of Elminage fame, so I’m sure it’s great.

Progress Updates And Stuff

Due to a few requests for updates…

cdczqjoviaagxko

Okay, several.

Fate/Extra CCC

Organizational phases. @ItsumoKnight is currently laying out the script by chapter to match up with our translation. When you have a project this massive, translating things out of context just won’t do.

I’d say 20% organized. We have translation work going concurrently. Hard to explain. It’s one of those things that when I have something tangible to show, I will. But it is still a thing. Just don’t expect any reliable timeframe just yet.

On the bright side, I did retranslate the OPs to get my feet wet, so have an enjoy. As with my usual song lyric translations, I did my best to match the translation syllables to the JP pronunciation. So sing along! OR DIE. ❤

Female:

Sakura Wars

Just got a new scenario update. It’s sitting at somewhere between 40-50% complete, and we have a new organizational method, so expect things to progress faster from here.

You’re not the boss of me.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment

Waiting on more script extractions. Shop text is largely finished. I’d say it’s at 25%.

Shadowrun

In need of a new translator, also mired in bugs. Still on hold. NOT CANCELLED. NEVER. MARK MY WORDS. (Put it in Red, Beato.)

The Silver Case

Officially cancelled. In case you haven’t heard, Playism is officially localizing it, in conjunction with Suda51 himself.

Please give them your support.

See you next time.

[April Fools] The Fate/Stay Night Retranslation Project

After long months of planning, we’re finally ready to reveal our trump card. CCC, Sakura Wars, Ougon Musou, Shikigami, and Shadowrun were all mere tests to see if we could pull this off.

Now I know we can. Iwakura Productions proudly presents, in the grand tradition of MOBILE LIGHT FORCE 2 and CHERRY TREE HIGH COMEDY CLUB(tm):

3

I’m sure you’ve felt the same way I have. Fate/Stay Night, with its convoluted focus on mythology, romantic drama, and outdated Japanese traditions is far too obtuse for an American audience, so we are proud to finally give Fate/Stay Night the translation it DESERVES!

2

No longer set in the boring town of Fuyuki City. Oh no. Fate/Stay Night Hyper Retranslation Extreme Justice Remix(FSN HREJR for short) will now take place in the sprawling suburban land of FREDRICKSBURG.

1

Each and every character has been given a new American name, in keeping with the time-honored tradition of classic localization. In addition to their new names, fans can expect a totally relocated plot.Every story element, weapon, and reference will be adjusted to match. Have no idea who Cu Chulainn is? Lost in Arthurian mythology? Don’t give a flying hell about silly Kendo swordplay? This is the translation for you!

We’ll be proud to unveil more about this translaton as the weeks go on. Nasu has already given his approval, and we plan on a full release for a wide variety of systems. Included but not limited to PS Vita, Dreamcast, the Saturn, the Amiga, and the Game Gear.

Stay tuned, space cats. Who needs CCC, anyway? This will put Fate on the MAP!

iwakura.p’s state of the union

“When’s CCC?” “Where’s Sakura Wars?” “Give Shadowrun plz” “SILVER CASE WHEN!?”

And so on and so on. Just a few of the many questions I get on the regular, and understandably so.

To that end, here’s updates on each of the three projects that I’m actively leading, and one that I’m actively helping on, as well as others that I’d eventually plan to do but have not even come close to starting yet.

Rhapsody 2: Puppet Princess fan translation resurfaces

Disclaimer: I am in no way involved with this project, not to say I wouldn’t love to be.

Rhapsody 2 Preview

This is apparently in stasis since Gemini put the project on hiatus until he finds a new team, but maybe he’ll finish it if enough people show interest.
(So go show interest, like right now. Deluge the guy.)

enci2yy

This is a sequel to one of my favorite RPGs ever, and having played it on the JPSN a while ago, I can attest that it is pure joy.

Incidentally, if you’re reading this and love NIS games and want to translate a silly musical RPG, GET IN TOUCH WITH GEMINI NOW!

Love,

cj

The Fate/Extra CCC Translation Project

As anyone who follows me on twitter knows, this baby’s been in the oven for a LONG. DAMN. TIME.

This was originally being done by Neoxephon at GBATemp. NX was making mad progress, but then sadly had to give up. See the thread here.

So NX handed over the work he’d done so far on the code to anyone who was willing.

It turns out we are. (The former translator sadly does not want to be involved, so we will respect their wishes and start over from scratch.)

Without further ado, the first buggy-as-hell screens of Fate/Extra CCC.
DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE ALL TESTING BUILD PURPOSES ONLY.  That said, have an enjoy.

Myself and EsperKnight are hard at work at fixing the bugs and we have a new translator potentially in the wings, so please be excited, etc.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers(PS1) Fan Translation officially cancelled

I know this might seem silly since we already have an official US release on the 3DS, but I still wanted this.

This project was originally started by Gemini(hacker) and Tom(translator) who were responsible for Persona 2: Innocent Sin’s PS1 fan translation.

Except this time, Atlus USA beat them to the punch.

It was suspected for a while that this meant the fan translation would get canned, and finally, from the project lead:

Pretty much dead at this point. EN2 will be my last patch released, will probably leave Little Princess to somebody interested and capable to give it the treatment it deserves. With the 3ds release I feel it’s kind of pointless and risky. Even Tom agreed that we forget it ever existed.

The translator’s thoughts:

1) As Gemini said, they’re a first draft and have not been checked in-game.
2) Anybody can start working with them, deriving translations from them, editing them and such, without consulting me.

If a hacker capable of working on it steps forward, then I’d be okay with collaborating with them… But I’m not going to actively push Gemini to hack SH when there is an official translation available, even if the official translation is “not perfect” (and nothing is perfect).

I wouldn’t say it’s completely pointless or risky to finish Soul Hackers… But there certainly is a cost/reward factor going here. Is the cost of the amount of work needed worth the reward of completing it? I can’t say that it is… I’d rather put the work I would have spent revising this into some of my other projects.

So why care about the classic version now that it’s officially been released on the 3DS?

Well, apart from the 3DS’ god-awful audio(you can barely hear anything in SH) and reduced resolution, there isn’t much reason to be honest.

Still, it’d be nice to play SH on a console. Also, the battles are like quadruple speed in the 3DS version.

Here’s how the OG looks, if you’re curious.
(Saturn version, spoilers!)

Dragon Force II Fan Translation (Saturn)

I am late as hell to this one, but better late than never.

http://verve-fanworks.com/

(Full disclosure: I helped test on this, but not as much as I’d have liked to. I was not involved in the project beyond that, and a massive love for the original game.)

I’ve yet to finish it, and although I feel this pales in comparison to the masterpiece original, this is still a fine game that is worth playing for any DF fan, especially to reward the fan translation team’s biblical efforts. This baby was YEARS in the making, and is a landmark achievement.

Go bring ruin to the invaders!

HYPE TRAILER!

Digimon:Redigitize Fan Translation (PSP)

Full disclosure: I have nothing to do with this project whatsoever, but I’m going to make it a point to share the hard work of other translation teams, because boy do I know how it feels to devote a lot of work to a niche cause.

https://digimonworldre.wordpress.com/

This is a full translation of the PSP successor to Digimon World. I’m not that familiar with the franchise, but I’m sure the site has plenty of awesome helpful info.

If the art looks familiar,it should! The character design is by Suzuhito Yasuda of Durarara! and Devil Survivor (in)fame.

Be sure to show the team some love!
